Question: When the Jews left Egypt for the promised land how did Moses know that Joseph was buried in the Nile? What prayer did he say that brought up the coffin up after about 400 years?
Answer: Serach, the righteous daughter of Asher, who was of Joseph’s generation and evidently lived an exceedingly long time, told Moses where Joseph was buried. There are a number of accounts of how the coffin was collected, but what they have in common is that it rose from the water miraculously.
