Family of Moses in History

Question: What happened to Moses family after they reached Israel – his sons and wife? Were they able to enter into Israel? Was his bloodline traced through history or at least until the time of the Romans?

Answer: I’m afraid I don’t know too many details about this, but I can say that the priest to the idol of Micha (mentioned by name in Judges 18: 30) was, according to the Talmud (Bava Basra 109b) the grandson of Moses. So at the very least some part of his family settled in Israel (although, in this case, not too successfully!).

I hope this helps.

Rabbi Boruch Clinton
