Question: Do you have a story where we clearly see the good in Jewish unity. Maybe during a time of war?
Answer: I think a great example of the unity of the Jewish people in wartime is during the terrorist war in Israel. Have you seen any of the video that is shot immediately after a bus bombing in Israel? Who is on the scene helping? Who are the paramedics? Are they secular Jews by themselves? Are they from one economic class? No! The people who are helping in the orange jackets are religious, secular, Israeli’s, foreigners, and all Jews who realize that the evil that is amidst them kills regardless of religious observance or affiliation. This is a great example where nobody is scared of jumping in to help. There are Chasidim and “peace now” activists carrying a stretcher together. They may not vote the same on political issues, but both realize the war that is upon them. I would say that everyone recognizes the value of Jewish life, regardless of affiliation or observance. I hope this helps.
Be Well,
