Learning How to Learn from the Haggadah

Question: What are some things we can learn from the Passover Haggadah?

Answer: The structure of the Haggadah teaches us a very important lesson about the best way to learn and remember things. We begin with questions, and then give answers; but not only verbally—we act them out by eating all kinds of things (i.e. we are involved in experiential learning). This tells us that to learn something well, you need to ask questions – you need to be curious. Also, you should involve yourself in the learning, not just sit and listen. When people learn this way, they often say that learning is “fun;” and that’s why the Passover seder is fun for children.

Have a happy Passover!
