Does G-d need our sacrifices?

If G-d does not eat, why do we bring animal offerings in the Temple?

Anything we do “for G-d” is only from our perspective, not His. G-d is perfect. That which is perfect cannot become anything more than what it already is. G-d does not receive anything from us. He gives us the impression that He does in order to give us the feeling that we have the ability to impact the world. By feeling that way we have an impetus to make proper choices to make ourselves and the world better.

When someone brings an offering, the primary emotion he should have is to picture himself in place of the offering. Imagine that he is giving himself up, piece by piece to G-d. By doing that he will hopefully change his attitude about the extent of his service to G-d.
