When is Ecclesiastes recited?
Ecclesiastes is read on the day of the Sukkot holiday that coincides with Shabbat (the Sabbath). If the first day of Sukkot is Shabbat it is read the following Shabbat. Not all synagogues have this custom.
All of the interpretations I have heard of the part of Ecclesiastes starting “remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth…....” have been by members of various Christian denominations While there are naturally similarities there are also distinct differences. For this reason I am very interested to hear how it is interpreted by a Jewish scholar.
In one’s youth one is more prone to frivolity and indiscretion, remember G-d in your youth, be in control when young, and there will be more fortitude to keep away from sin as one grows older.
