I am not Jewish, but I have a friend who is, and I am curious about why he prays to Abraham. Do you pray to Abraham? If so, why? wasnt he a man? Isnt it inappropriate to pray to a man?
Many prayers are directed to “the G-d of Abraham.” You are correct that we do not pray to human beings, nor to physical manifestations of G-d. One of the primary functions of prayer is its role in bringing us to an understanding of human limitations and our dependency on G-d. Therefore, there is no place for prayer which is focused on a man.
All the best,
