I was taught that the name of G-d was so great that mere man could not say it…..What is the name we are not supposed to say? I have been thinking about this and realize that I was told that the name is G-d but that is not the way it would have been read in the original text…that is the english word…is there another name we cannot say for HaShem?
I assume that the name of G-d that you are reffering to is what is spelled as Y-HO-V-A. We don’t say that name as it is too holy to say outside of the Holy Temple. We say instead A-DO-NOY. This name too is only said during prayer and Torah study.
