I have learnt that our souls do not wish to be born. I have also learnt that our souls would want to come back to this world after death so they can finish learning a particular lesson. How do we reconcile this?
To simplify things we have to look at it from the perspective of a cost/benefit analysis. Perfection of souls can best come about through the crucible of living in this world. At the same time coming down to this world and dealing with the challenges it presents often results in failure. Is it worth coming down with the chance of success if the failure rate is so high? Think of high-risk surgery for a patient, that may result in his death, or may result in dramatically improved quality of life.
