I would like to show my class a Seder plate. What are the bitter herbs exactly?
Answer
The “maror” (bitter herbs) are a reminder of the bitter times the Jews had living as slaves in Mitzrayim (Egypt). This is usually represented on the seder plate with romaine lettuce or horseraddish.
