Question
Should we celebrate on the tenth of Nisan?
Answer
The tenth of Nisan isn’t celebrated in any special way nowadays, but at the time of the Exodus it was the day on which the Hebrews put aside lambs for the Passover sacrifice (Ex.12:3). The Midrash tells us that when the Egyptians saw that the Hebrews were planning to slaughter lambs (which, to them, were sacred animals), they attacked the Hebrews, but the Hebrews were saved by Divine intervention. This would justify celebrating the tenth of Nisan in subsequent years.
