A friend has offered to loan me a silver Torah crown to wear as part of a “kingly” costume. I am uneasy about doing so for fear of being disrespectful and/or worse. On the other hand, it is my understanding that “objects” , graven or otherwise, are not worshiped in Judaism, so there may not be any disrespect after all. Please let me know what you think.
Even though you are right that objects are not worshiped as part of Judaism, when an object has been designated to be used for a holy function, it acquires a sanctity and should not be utilized for mundane purposes. Therefore, you should turn down the offer.
