Finding my Soulmate

Question

How does I know if the person I’m dating is my “bashert” [“intended” or “soulmate”]? Are their particular signs to look for or do we just spend time together and wait to see how the relationship develops?

Answer

There is no way to know with absolute certainty when you have met your bashert. If you are comfortable together, and share similar goals, lifestyles and the big, practical details necessary to make a marriage work, then you can feel comfortable that this is “the one.” (By the way, finding the “right one” does not mean that your marriage, by definition, will be a successful one. You must prepare yourself for the investment, selflessness, and effort that it takes to make a marriage work.)

It can also be a good idea to discuss the relationship with someone else whose opinion and judgment you trust, and who can give you an objective view.

Ultimately, as flesh-and-blood human beings, it is enough to trust in the intelligence, opportunities, and invisible guidance that God has given us, while doing our very best to make the right decisions. You need not concern yourself for “supernatural” signs pointing to your bashert.

I hope this is helpful and I wish you great success in your endeavors.
