According to the Torah, what are the responsibilities of a father? Specifically, what does G-d do with a man that watches his sons disrespect their mother?
Thank you for your question.
The Talmud in Tractate Kiddushin tells us of the many different obligations that a father has to his son. These include educating him in the Torah and its Laws, circumcising him, redeeming him if he is a first born, and teaching him a craft (an expertise to enable him to earn his own livelihood).
Included in the obligation to teach him the Torah and its laws, is the commitment for the father to teach his son to honor his parents. There is also the requirement for a husband to respect, shelter, and protect his wife. Failure to impress upon his son the severity of disrespecting his mother is a serious dereliction of duty.
