A Levite Convert?

Question

If a non-Jew becomes pregnant from a Levite man and she converts before the child is born is the child a Levite?

Answer

The child won’t be a Levite since in essence the child at conception wasn’t Jewish. The conversion of the mother works for the child as well making the child Jewish without having to convert separately. However, since the child did “convert” he can’t be a Levite.
