Can Jews donate blood? Or would this be a no as it might be viewed along the similar line of an Orthodox Jew donating an organ? According to my teacher, organ donations are not permitted because the way G-d made you is the way you go back into the ground.
Judaism does not prohibit blood donations, and I know religious Jews who donate blood regularly. Neither does it prohibit organ donations – in principle. The issue with organ donations is that often the organ is removed from the donor’s body while, according to Jewish law, the person is still technically alive. That would be tantamount to killing him.
Thanks for asking,
