We have Internet access at home. Along with it come many dangers. Could you please mention some guidelines that could limit its potential negative effects?
You would be best served by speaking directly to a local Rabbi who can be of “hands on” guidance. In a general sense, it is best not to let children on the net without constant supervision. The problems with the internet are not limited to children, and many an adult has succumbed to its lures. When the computer is in a public room where the whole family can see it some of the dangers are limited. I honestly wish that I could tell you not to even have internet access in the home, but the fact is that many people deem it necessary and we must do the best we can to bring it under control.
Much has been written on this subject and below are two links to articles written by Philip M. Rosenthal, a Computer Forensic Investigator and an expert in computer & Internet safety. There’s also a link to a recording of one of his presentations. These links will make you aware of the extreme dangers that are out there and offer sound advice from a recognized expert to help minimize the problems.
