I grew up Reform but I am now trying to learn and incorporate more into my daily life. I need to find a source that says exactly when and what is done and in what order in daily life. I’m not about to do everything but at least I want to find out so that I can start doing more. I was referred to the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch but then I saw that your site says it is not to be relied on for practices in modern times. Nu? So where can I find something?
I think it is wonderful that you are looking to enhance your mitzvah observance. May G-d give you the strength for a lifetime of growth.
It is true that there are places in which the opinion of the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch is not universally accepted. However, the same is true about many aspects of Jewish Law (Halacha) in that there are often differing customs as to which of several opinions to follow.
I think that the Kitzur is an excellent and useful resource to begin your study of Halacha. A more modern alternative is Shaarei Halachah by Rabbi Ze’ev Greenwald, based on the commentary of the Mishneh Berura. As time goes on and you become more familiar with Halacha and differing practices, you can either continue your studies in other works to see other opinions, and/or find a rabbi to look to for guidance as to which practices to follow.
