Reaffirming Marriage Vows

Question

Can a married couple reaffirm their vows under a chuppah for a second time?

Answer

There isn’t any form of reaffirming vows in the Jewish tradition. Once a couple is married, they remain so unless they divorce or one party dies, G-d forbid.

The concept of taharas hamishpacha is actually a reaffirmation of your wedding vows each month. The Talmud states that when a woman emerges from the mikvah it is as if she is a new bride. If you treat your wife as a queen and she, in turn, treats you as a king, there is no greater affirmation of a couple’s commitment to each other.
