To Attain Fear of G-d

Question

What is an action a person a can do every day in order top attain Fear of G-d?

Answer

Thanks for this question. Every day a Jew should be working on himself. He should be praying, eating kosher, doing mitzvos (commandments), etc. However, your question really hits on a very good point. How do we instill within ourselves a sense of Fear of G-d? There are countless ways to do this. One practical suggestion would be to spend a few minutes each day thinking about the blessings in your life, regardless of how minute. Even stop for a
moment and take your pulse to feel your heart beating. What an amazing lesson in having a sense that there is a G-d in the world. By taking a moment to feel your heartbeat and recognize that there is a Creator who manipulates the world to run exactly as it needs to we must have a sense of fear that I am not living up to who I can be. This can be a 1 minute, 5 minute, or very long exercise, but if done daily, can truly change your life.

Be Well,
Rabbi Litt
