Question
I was wondering what is the best and most effective way to study Torah? Is it traditional to read out loud to oneself, or should I read quietly and meditate on each passage?
Answer
While some people prefer to study quietly and meditate about the passages, there is a quality to reading out loud. This helps with retention of the Torah passages. However ,this doesn’t need to be done in the tune of Torah reading done in the synagogue.
Also, the Talmud states that the most rewarding study of Torah, is when studied with a ‘havruta’ a study partner. Two is better than one.
Happy studying and many blessings,
