I once heard that in Heaven, everyone learns Torah in depth without interruption, for all of eternity. In Hell also, everyone learns Torah in depth without interruption, for all of eternity. For some people this situation will be Heaven and for some it will be Hell. If this is true how do the bad get cleansed if they learn torah without interuption? Is there basically no diffrence between heaven and hell?
Essentially, the way you are describing Heaven and Hell, the experience of coming face to face with the Truth, (you call it “learning Torah”) is always the same. The reaction to the experience depends on what the soul’s deeds are made of. A soul with good deeds enjoys the experience. A soul with bad deeds suffers from the experience. That is because it has
failed in accomplishing its mission which is now so clear to it. However, the suffering is somehow “burnt away” as the soul eventually internalizes the Truth. In that way, the soul is cleansed.
