Ask the Rabbi: answers from Project Genesis rabbis

Torah and Judaism

Question

Should we do what G-d wants us to do, or what Judaism wants us to do? What if we’re not convinced that they’re the same thing?

Answer

Thank you for your question. I think it is important to stress that there is never a difference between what G-d and what Judaism say. G-d gave us the Torah which is the basis for Judaism and told us this is the way to build a relationship with him. It is our instruction manual from G-d how to relate to him and forge a bond with him.

Thank You.
