Prophecies for the future

Question

What is interpretation of Ezekiel 38 & 39? Why is Ezekiel 37 fulfilled after Ezek 38 39? Who shall be included in fulfillment Isaiah 54?

Answer

Our sages have long said that these prophecies will really only be understood properly when they happen. There are many interpretations, but we don’t really know. What they accomplish is that we know to look forward to the glory of G-d’s presence in the future. And, when they happen, we’ll be able to understand the details.

This is precisely what my Hebrew school teacher said,or words very close to same,
many years ago. I hoped more might be known since my Hebrew school years. So much has happened in the interim. Rabbi, what interpretation of several and more possible do you tend to favor, with a few words of your own.

Sorry, I still agree with what your teacher told you. It is wonderful to study these verses to learn as much as we can about Hashem’s Torah. But to pretend or imagine that I know how it’s all going to work out, or how our present times fit it: As far as I’m concerned that’s pure guesswork, and not very helpful guesswork at that. Ancient and recent history shows what happens to people and movements who decide that “now is different”, based on their fuzzy half-understandings of the end of history.

We need to decide that now is indeed different: We haven’t gotten it right yet, but let’s do it right this time. If this really is close to the culmination of mankind’s destiny, we have to perfect our focus on serving G-d properly, on being as close to him as we can, on learning as much about his Torah as we can. Sorry about being a stick-in-the-mud, but there you are. Actually, there’s a tremendous amount of joy and excitement to be found in the quest to come closer to G-d through his Torah. This is the real route to our redemption: “Those who mourn over the destruction will be worthy to see the joy of its
rebuilding.”
