Blood Test for Jewish Identity

Question

How does one obtain a blood test that establishes Jewish identity? Where can it be obtained and what is the cost?

Answer

There really isn’t a blood test that establishes Jewish identity. A
convert or descendant of one could have very different DNA, for
example, yet be absolutely Jewish. A descendant of an entirely
gentile family save the mother’s mother’s mother’s… mother, is
100% Jewish.

Recent articles found genetic tags in the Y chromosomes of
Kohanim, priests, who must be descendants of the original
Kohen, Aharon (Moses’ brother) in order to *be* Kohanim in
Jewish law. [As you probably know, the Y chromosome is passed
from father to son to great-great-grandson etc.] But Judaism
doesn’t recognize these DNA tags as proof (or their absence as
disproof) of priestly status.
