IN THE TORAH, WHAT DO THE LETTERS (P) OR (S) BETWEEN BRACKETS AT THE END OF SOME VERSICLES MEAN?
Like in:
ט וַיְדַבֵּר מֹש×?ֶה כֵּן, ×?ֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָ×?ֵל; וְלֹ×? ש×?ָמְעוּ, ×?ֶל- {פ} מֹש×?ֶה, מִקֹּצֶר רוּחַ, וּמֵעֲבֹדָה קָש×?ָה. {פ}
The Torah is divided into parshiot. (Not only the breaks we have for every week but paragraphs.) There can be many parshiot in a sedrah (Torah portion) like Noach. Often we refer to the sedrah with the word parsha but technically it is a reference to a paragraph not a whole sedrah. A letter Peh at the end of a section in the Torah means that this paragraph is open (patuach) a letter Samech at the end of a paragraph means closed (satum) there is a question if the designation is on the coming paragraph or the ending paragraph. Open or closed imply more or less of a connection with the next paragraph.
