Crying on Shabbat

Question

Good morning, I have a halachic (legal) question regarding shabbat (the Sabbath). I know shabat is suppose to be a happy day and we are suppose to enjoy it as much as possible, however are we allowed to cry to hashem (G-d) on shabbat. I know we are not allowed to ask hashem for anything on shabbat except if its for spiritual thing, however i was wondering can one cry to hashem on shabbat. if one is asking hashem for a spiritual requested, is one allowed to cry to him, is do we say on shabbat one is not allowed to cry no matter what?

Answer

Thank you for your question. Although a person should certainly avoid
being in painful situations on Shabbat, he may cry to Hashem if he is in
a situation which warrants it.

Take care,
Rabbi Aaron Tendler
