Does the Torah change?

Question

Within the parameters of classical Judaism, has the writings of the Torah changed since Moses wrote it?

Answer

The Torah, that is the 5 Books of Moses are unchanged and will remain that way as it is a basic tenet of our religion. Historical analyses of torah scrolls, the oldest that have survived hundreds of years prove that the transmission of hand copying the scrolls hasn’t resulted in even inadvertent changes or mistakes. One method which has helped insure this is the fact that in order for a Torah scroll to considered Kosher, valid for use, it must have been checked letter by letter by a trained expert to make sure that not even one letter is missing, cracked, smudged, or touching another. If at any time during its use (it is read weekly completing the entire scroll annually) it is found to be missing a letter or a letter fades, etc. it is rendered invalid until it is fixed and can’t be used (even midsentence in front of crowded synagogue!)
