Mourning Period

Question

My mother passed away last year on the 27th day of Adar II. When do I stop saying Kaddish and when does my mourning period end?

Answer

You stop saying Kaddish after 11 calendar months, regardless, but in any case that would be 27 Shevat. [Let’s say the yahrtzeit was 27 Nissan in a year with two Adars — the person would stop saying Kaddish during Adar I even though the yahrtzeit would be two months later.]

The Yahrtzeit is and will be the 27th day of Adar in any year when there is only one. May her Neshamah have an Aliyah!
