Kaddish

Question

Because of work, I am unable to attend morning prayers and therefore cannot recite Kaddish in the presence of 10 men. Is it permissible to recite at home?

Answer

As far as Kaddish is concerned, the purpose of Kaddish is that it be said in public. Without a Minyan (a forum of 10 Jewish males) the Kaddish is not said because it is not fulfilling its intended purpose. I would suggest that you try to say Kaddish as often as you can and ask someone who prays with a Minyan to have the person you are saying Kaddish for in mind when they say Kaddish. This is a common practice in many synagogues.

Question

I have a question regarding Schaharit:

If I’m late to Shul, should I skip some prayers to say Amida with a mynian?

Answer

Thank you for your question. Yes, there are some prayers that you may
skip, and then say afterwards. There is a hierarchy of which ones to skip
and which ones must be said. It is too extensive to discuss in an e-mail,
but any Sefer devoted to the laws of Tefillah would bring them down.
