Inheritance

Question

What is the order of inheritance?

Answer

The order of inheritance is sons, daughters, and father; and if the first in line doesn’t exist, his/her heirs get his/her portion, in the same order. Thus if there are no children or grandchildren, but the father is alive, he inherits; if he isn’t alive, the brothers or sisters (on the father’s side) inherit. Similarly, if there are no living descendants of the father, the grandfather inherits, and if he isn’t alive, the uncles or aunts (on the grandfather’s side) inherit; and so on. These principles are derived from Num.27:1-11, 36:1-12.
