The Authorship of the Bible

Question

Who wrote the books of the Bible?

Answer

The first five books of the Bible (the Pentateuch) were given to Moses by G-d. The next group of books, the Prophets, were written by prophets, and so were also Divinely inspired. The third group, the Writings, were written under Divine guidance — some of them by prophets, others by the Great Assembly (a name given to the Sanhedrin during early Second Temple times). On the authorship of the books of the Bible see Talmud, Bava Basra 14b.
