Ask the Rabbi: answers from Project Genesis rabbis

Impact of Torah

Question

How does the Torah impact your respective religion and how does it impact society?

Answer

That’s a really great question, especially when one realizes that the only time in human history where G-d met with a nation face to face, so to speak (G-d doesn’t have a physical face or anything physical) was when G-d gave His Torah on Mt. Sinai. It is therefore obvious that the Torah would forever after have a tremendous effect upon the entire world.

For the Jews, the Torah is a Book on how G-d requires that we live. For everyone else, G-d’s Torah and His Jewish Nation thereby became the focal point for the thinking of all nations in all times. That is what is meant by Isaiah 49:6 – “…I will also give you (Israel/The Jewish People) for a light to the nations, that My salvation may be to the end of the Earth.”
