Shaving During the Omer

Question

Can a person shave his beard in the days of the omer?

Answer

Thank you for your question. The custom is for a person to conduct himself as if he were in semi-mourning during a portion of the counting of the omer, and not to shave his beard. Some observe this from Passover until Lag B’Omer (the 33rd day in the counting of the omer). Others observe this from Rosh Chodesh Iyar until 3 days before Shavuos.

Take care,
