Question
Why does the bride walk around the groom seven times in a Jewish wedding?
Answer
There are many reasons given for this custom. My personal favorite is that walking around seven times brings down the barriers and walls between the couple, allowing them to unite and bond. This is similar to the time that Joshua and the Children of Israel encircled the city of Jericho seven times, after which the walls of Jericho miraculously sunk into the ground and allowed the Jews to conquer the city.
Take care,
