Exploring Judaism

Question

I would like to understand more about the Jewish faith . At present I am a Christian. Do you think that this would be a good move for me to get involved with the Jewish Religion, to consider conversion? I don’t want to feel like an outsider..

Answer

In general, Judasim and the Jewish People embrace converts but do not encourage them. That is to say, if you are interested in learning about Judaism and considering joining the Jewish People, you are welcome to do so and we will try to facilitate your access. However, we do not believe that you need to become Jewish to be a good person. On the contrary, a non-Jew, such as yourself, can be a 100% good person and go to heaven without being Jewish. That is not to say it’s automatic. To be a good – and holy – person has parameters. To learn about these, I would recommend starting with exploring the site http://www.bnainoah.net/ and then writing back if you have questions. You can also learn something by exploring the archives of this site and my blog at http://rabbiseinfeld.blogspot.com.

Good luck,
Rabbi Seinfeld
