Nuts on Rosh Hashana

Question

What is the custom about not eating nuts on Rosh Hashana? Is it just Rosh Hashana?

Answer

No Nuts until Yom Kippur because the Hebrew word for nut is “egoz”, which has the Gematria* of “chayt” – “sin”. This serves as a reminder that during these 10 days we are trying to think positive!

Apples in honey, not nuts!
