Expecting Miracles

Question

I have a disease which I was told that there is no treatment for. Can I expect some miracles? I heard a lot about nation miracles and I experienced many individual miracles in my life.

Answer

I feel terrible about your condition and life circumstance, it must be very hard. Generally we say that one cannot expect miracles to occur. One can pray for them and ask G-d to help you in your situation, though. However, there are many Rabbis that say that if a person has incredibly strong reliance on G-d (Bitachon) and throws his entire life’s burden’s into His hands and believes very, very, very strongly that Hashem will help him/her out, then G-d may make a miracle. If you really rely on G-d to make this miracle that you hope for then perhaps it will happen. In the meantime, you should try to find a job, if you don’t have one, and keep busy so that you will feel that you are contributing to the world. Make sure to educate yourself in Torah, reading Torah books and going to classes. This will strengthen you in your hard situation. Help others out as well and you will feel satisfied and happy.
