40 Years in the Desert

Question: Why did it take 40 years for the Jewish to go from Egypt to the Holyland?

Answer: The Jews should have gone into Israel once they left Mount Sinai, but the spies they sent to Israel took 40 days to bring back a false, evil report about the land. The Jews believed the spies and were punished by spending 1 year in the desert for each day of travel of the spies in Israel.

All the Best,
Rabbi Meir Goldberg
