Question: I have been interested in farming and I would like to raise animals for business purposes. Can I raise animals that I am restricted from eating according to the Torah?
Answer: Jewish law allows the raising of non-kosher animals that will be used for non-food purposes (like horses). If rabbits, as an example, are being raised for their fur or as pets, then a Jew could use them, however, if they are primarily going to be used for food, then even if the Jew doesn’t eat them, he may not raise them.
