Question: What was Enoch’s main contribution?
Answer: It isn’t clear. However, see Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler’s classic work, Strive for Truth (Michtav M’Eliyahu), in his Discourse on Loving kindness, where he writes that Enoch was a cobbler and made mystical union’s with G-d every time he stitched a shoe for someone. Rabbi Dessler quotes Rabbi Yisroel Salanter, that this means that every time he made something for someone he had in mind that the receiver should have the most possible benefit from him. He was totally giving, just like G-d.
