I was just wondering what happened to King Xerxes and Queen Esther. How long did this king reign and how long did Queen Esther live?
We don’t have too may details about King Achashverosh and Queen Esther subsequent to the Megillah narrative. However, Jewish tradition does point to a child born to the couple. The Rabbis assert that King Darius II was born from the union, and he succeeded King Achashverosh as ruler of Persia. In fact, as King of Persia he rescinded the ban on the Jews returning to the Holy Land and paved the way for the Jews to rebuild the Second Temple.
