The Messiah

Borders of the Promised Land

G-d promised Abraham that everywhere he set his foot, it would be land given him for his people, the Jews. I have heard that this goes from Ur of the Chaldees (Saudi Arabia) up to Lebanon, into Egypt. The exception would be the land he gave to Lot and those areas Jacob negotiated to not take from the group who deceived him claiming to be from a distant land but were actually locals. What are the teachings concerning this promised land?

We know the basic boundaries, that is everything West of the Jordan River and the Dead Sea, including the West Bank. The boundaries likely include present day Lebanon, and there is a question as to how far south the boundaries will extend. G-d Himself does not tell us all of the boundaries, particularly that to the East of the Jordan. When the Messiah is unveiled the correct land will revert to the correct owners, full boundaries presently unknown. We can wait.

Deuteronomy 12:20 – “When God, your God, will extend your border as He has promised you…”
