Intermarriage

Asnat and Divine Providence

Question: How could Joseph marry Asnat [Hebrew for Asenoth] (Genesis 41:45) if she was an Egyptian?

Answer: In truth, Asnat was the Jewish child of Joseph’s sister Dena, and she was adopted by… Potifar’s wife! (She was the woman who tried to seduce Joseph in Genesis chapter 29.) God makes things happen as He wants them to happen; finding ways, usually well beyond our understanding, to move pieces around the playing board, and getting them into position as he brings His Creation to the conclusion He desires.
