Rekindling a Connection with G-d

Question: I wish I had a better connection to G-d and to my own Judaism. I feel like I’m just going through the motions, I’m just doing things because I have to. Logically I understand the beauty of it all, and I’d like to believe that if I was challenged I wouldn’t just drop it all. However, emotionally, I’m just not feeling it. I know that working on prayer can help with my connection to G-d, but my mind always seems to wander when I’m praying. How can I feel good about what I am doing? How can I feel more connected?

Answer: Perhaps a good thing to work on would be improving your interpersonal interactions. Your relationship with G-d usually mirrors your relationship with people. So if you can excel at the former, the latter might fall into place.

Prayer is a tough thing to work on. The most you can do is pay attention to the words and their meaning. Hopefully your heart will follow.

Also, if you have the opportunity to teach those who have not had the benefit of growing up in a Torah home, you will probably appreciate what you have a lot more.I hope this helps,
